Loan Fund Policy

For the past four years the Revolving Loan fund has offered small interest loans to cooperatives in communities surrounding the municipality of San Miguel and in the state of Hidalgo.  The four loans given, one to Hacienda la Trindad Sewing cooperative, one to El Pipila de Penon de los Banos, one to the Café de la Luz and one to the Empresa Integradora para el Desarrollo Rural have been very successful. These loans have served to purchase vehicles, build greenhouses, and buy machinery. The Center for Global Justice is proud of the accomplishments of each of these groups and their continued struggle forward.
After much debate and consideration The Center for Global Justice has decided that we no longer have the sufficient staff to arrange and service these loans. The amount of work needed and financial expertise required is at this point out of our reach. The excess time required of these loans is both costly and inefficient in working within the communities. We regretfully annouce the indefinite suspension of The Revolving Loan Fund.
The funds that have been accumulated into the loan fund were given by the many donors and friends of the Center that wished contribute to our work and support the projects of local cooperatives. This money will continue to be used for cooperative projects and communities, but will in the future be given as donations to these groups. We know that our donors will be satified in knowing that their support is being used in the most efficient and effective way that it can be.
We encourage our members and donors to contact the Center for any further clairfication that they might need about this process. We will continue to be diligent in reporting our use of funds, evaluating our programs, and working toward utilizing support in the most appropriate ways for our organization, the communities in which we work, and our supporters.
