Cuban Revolution in Motion

Cuba is re-forming its socialism. Building on the human development achieved over the past half century and more, this brave country is boldly re-inventing its socialism. Recognizing that the state cannot do everything, it is opening up its economy to democratic worker owned cooperatives as well as small private businesses. Foreign investment is being invited to expand the economy. Some say this is a step toward capitalism. Others say it is a socialism for the 21st century based on a belief in the social consciousness of a revolutionary people that is invigorating civil society.

Cliff DuRand will discuss the challenges Cuba is facing as it seeks to invent its future. Dr. DuRand has spoken and written extensively about Cuba and has led educational trips there for three decades.
