Co-founders of the Mexico Solidarity Project, Bruce Hobson and Meizhu Lui will speak on why North American progressives should understand why Mexico is critical to advancing a vision of socialism and multiracial democracy in the United States.
If you’ve been thinking that the current trade war with China is confined to trade, think again. In 2016, the renowned documentarian, John Pilger, completed his film, “The Coming War on China,” a detailed look at the American strategy geared toward maintaining US global dominance.
Obama had pushed his “pivot toward Asia” strategy as a comprehensive plan to counteract Chinas’ growing influence in the area. An essential piece to that shift included the ringing of China with 400 US military bases, many of which having nuclear weapons. A similar strategy was employed with the NATO alliance to hem in Russia. The clear and constant US message... don’t mess with American global hegemony.
In 2010, Hillary Clinton declared China’s claims to the atolls in the South China Sea as a threat to US security. And with China’s extension of influence in Africa and Latin America, the drumbeat of American hawks and military strategists have continued unabated.
Trump threatens anyone who “dares” to think they have the right to compete for markets and resources, let alone defend themselves against the US. According to the WSJ, “Congress is preparing to enact a defense-policy bill that some lawmakers say is tougher on China than any in history, as a bipartisan movement to confront Beijing gathers steam.”
The likelihood of a military showdown, one that might well include the use of nuclear weapons, is steadily increasing. “The Coming War on China”, focuses on and exposes these alarming developments.
