Tom Paxton with Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer in Concert

Tom Paxton will give one of those now-rare concerts, his first-ever in San Miguel. All 500 seats in the  Hotel Real de Minas ballroom will be reserved and assigned to ticket holders. The concert is a benefit for Caminamos Juntos, a charitable organization that assists Mexican nationals who have been unjustly deported.

Tom Paxton is a living legend, a folksinger and prolific songwriter who wrote the words and music for iconic songs such as “The Last Thing on My Mind,” “Ramblin’ Boy,” “Bottle of Wine,” “Whose Garden Was This,” and many other classics. A decade ago, his long career as one of America’s best-loved musicians was recognized with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Now 82, Paxton gives concerts far less frequently than he once did, but he remains a compelling live performer.

Paxton will be joined by two-time Grammy winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, who combine superb vocal harmonies with instrumental virtuosity. Cathy & Marcy will perform their own set and accompany Paxton for part of his. The duo’s past collaborations with Paxton yielded the 2006 Grammy-nominated album Tom Paxton with Cathy & Marcy Live in the UK.

Tickets are $300, $400, and $500 and may be purchased at Boleto City in Mercado Sano from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday or online at boletocity.com
