Las Semillas y su relación con la sociedad humana

La relación entre las semillas y las sociedades humanas ha favorecido el desarrollo de distintos sistemas de producción agrícolas y con ello saberes y trasformaciones tecnológicas, prácticas culturales, culinarias, espirituales, sociales y espaciales. Bajo los sistemas campesinos, las semillas se adaptan y renuevan constantemente a la diversidad y variabilidad de los suelos, los climas, las prácticas agrícolas y a las necesidades alimentarias y culturales locales. Esto ha permitido la evolución y la permanencia de los cultivos y de las sociedades. Sin embargo, las semillas se han visto violentadas por los procesos de modernización capitalista; colocándolas en una condición de vulnerabilidad y disputa que no debemos ignorar.

Mariana Macías Medellín es Licenciada en Geografía (por la UASLP) y maestra en Ciencias en Desarrollo Rural Regional (por Chapingo).
