Prospects for Socialism in the 21st Century

After the failures of socialism in the 20th century, many are rethinking how to build socialism today.

Radhika Desai s the author of Geopolitical Economy: After US Hegemony, Globalization and Empire (2013). She is a Professor at the Department of Political Studies, and Director, Geopolitical Economy Research Group, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada.

She will discuss prospects for socialism in the US as well as China, Cuba and elsewhere. Socialist economic construction continues to offer the most viable alternative to the globalized capitalist crisis. But how to build it in the midst of a globalized capitalism? That is the question.
