El 5 de febrero de 2022 se inauguró una nueva radio comunitaria en Dolores Hidalgo--Radio Cuenca de la Independencia--generado en el Centro de Desarrollo Agropecuario A.C. (CEDESA). Junto con los programas musicales y culturales, la estación presenta un programa matutino regular, “Despierta! ya cantó el gallo del cerro,” que se transmite todos los lunes, miércoles y viernes de 10 a 12 horas con noticias, entrevistas y discusiones sobre inquietudes de la comunidad, como la amenaza actual de minería a cielo abierto en Cerro del Gallo que, de permitirse operar, utilizaría 87 mil litros de agua por hora para este proceso, mientras libera químicos altamente tóxicos como cianuro de sodio y ácido sulfúrico.
