Democrats Gave Away America’s Future to Trump. Can They Get It Back?

This event took place a week before the inauguration of an unstable megalomaniac, totally unfit to be president. His loyalists control the Congress and the Supreme Court. And his stated agenda could destroy American constitutional democracy.  Yet his political opposition hasn’t a clue how to respond.

The issue is not whether the Democrats can recover for the next election, but whether, as the “liberal” wing of the two-party system, they are capable of leading Americans to face the  reality of their declining empire.

Faux discusses:

  1. Why Trump’s Democratic opposition is in denial
  2. How the Republican right grew and unified its base, while the Democratic center-left shrunk and divided theirs.
  3. Why the working class supported Trump.
  4. What now must be faced

Jeff Faux founded the Economic Policy Institute in Washington DC,--the leading think tank focusing on working Americans--and was its President for 20 years. He wrote The Servant Economy, The Global Class War, and five other books. He has lectured widely in the US, Mexico and abroad. Among other experiences, he worked in the Federal government’s War on Poverty and for the State Department on nuclear disarmament issues.  He has been finance company manager, a merchant seaman, a bartender and a blueberry farmer and a member of five different labor unions.
