A Robust Public System for Health: Cuba

While Cuba is much poorer than the United States and other developed nations, Cuba's robust public health system has successfully managed the pandemic under a punishing economic blockade imposed by the U.S. Despite these burdens, Cuba has contained the virus with one of the lowest death rates anywhere. A former Professor of Philosophy at Morgan State University, Durand has traveled annually to Cuba for 30 years, leading hundreds of people on educational trips.
