Latin America over the past two decades has witnessed a series of pendulum shifts in democratic electoral politics. This talk will attempt to place the dynamics of these shifts from right to left, and more prominently from right to left, in a broader perspective of what has been described as a pink tide of regime change and a regional trend towards natural resource-based economic development and extractive capitalism.
