Ajowa Nzinga Ifateyo

It took a pandemic for many to see just how important workers are in society and to just how much we depend on workers and how we all are connected. At the same time the pandemic changed the nature of work and our economic landscape. What are some of the changes we’ve seen and how can cooperatives and other organizations help workers to create a society where everyone is valued and work to create a world where everyone’s needs are met.

Ajowa Nzinga Ifateyo works with Grassroots Economic Organizing (GEO), a decentralized collective of educators, researchers and grassroots activists. She was a founding board member of the U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives (USFWC), where she served for nine years. Ajowa was also a founding member of the Ella Jo Baker Intentional Community Cooperative for Community Activists in Washington D.C.
